FAQs

TERM DATES & REHEARSAL TIMES

  • The Contemporary Choir rehearse during term time. Occasionally, rehearsals may be moved to a school holiday, in this case they will be on the same day, location and time that your usual rehearsal is. Additional rehearsals may be offered if coming up to a large performance.

  • Rehearsals are 7.30pm - 9.00pm on a Tuesday evening at The Croft Prep in Stratford & the same time on a Wednesday evening at King’ High School

  • Of course, as long as we know in advance it’s no problem to switch to a different session that is convenient for you. Description text goes here

  • Absolutely not, there is no audition and you won’t be singled out when you attend your free trial. You’ll be singing within your section and will surely gain the confidence to sing out and have a wonderful time doing so! There may be a song or two where a solo may be appropriate, but that would only ever be the case if the soloist was willing and comfortable enough to sing alone.

  • Yes absolutely, we welcome all ability levels in our choirs - all we ask is that you can hold a bit of a tune and love to sing! Our supportive atmosphere is perfect for confidence building, and you'll find lots of members who were feeling just like you when they began. We also have lots of singers who have lots of experience, and their confidence will help you to feel like you are on the right track!

  • We only accept members who are over 16. Working with older teens and adults allows for a more positive and fruitful environment in the rehearsal room. That being said, we do sometimes give consent for slightly younger but mature teens to attend with a parent or guardian, always feel free to ask.

CHOIR LOCATIONS

  • Your membership includes one choir rehearsal per week. We ask that members have a ‘home’ choir that is the choir that they attend on a regular basis, however if there’s a week where you need to attend a different day, you are welcome to come to one of our other choir locations on that week. If you would like the flexibility to be able to numerous branches of The Contemporary Choir (Stratford Upon Avon – Tue, Warwick/Leamington Spa – Wed), within the same week, you will be able to do so for a further £10 per month on top of your usual membership fee. Our choirs may be at a different learning stages, therefore the material worked on may be slightly different to that of your ‘home’ choir.

  • Yes, you are welcome to switch the location of the choir you attend, but we ask that you do not do this more than twice per calendar year, in order to keep continuity.

PAYMENTS

  • The Contemporary Choir costs £116 per 12 session term – so each session costs £9.67. The usual annual cost is £348 in total, paid in 12 equal monthly instalments of £29 per month.

  • Monthly payments are made online via a secure system (Go Cardless). We will send a link that will take you through to ‘Go Cardless’ where you will set up your account, thus activating your membership.

  • We strive for every aspect of the Contemporary Choir to be professional and of a high standard; therefore we work hard behind the scenes and continually invest time and funds into rehearsal spaces, song arrangements, website maintenance, paying live musicians to record, printing etc.

  • In order to keep your payments even throughout the year, we spread your membership fees equally across the 12 month period regardless of how many rehearsals are in that month. The total price remains the same per term and per year.

  • We ask that our members are committed to attending each term (to ensure all of our members are at the same level and learning at the same pace), and therefore the Contemporary Choir don’t offer a refund on missed sessions.

PERFORMING WITH THE CHOIR

  • Absolutely not! We very much understand that performing in front of an audience is not for everybody, and you will be under no pressure from anyone to do anything other than rehearse with us as normal. There is something to be said about safety in numbers though, and you will be surprised how confident you may feel singing our fabulous repertoire next to your choir family. There will be incredible opportunities to record vocals in a studio and perform with live musicians throughout the year.

CANCELLING MY MEMBERSHIP

  • If you decide to leave us, just get in touch and once you’re all up to date payment wise we shall help you to cancel your membership.

UNIFORM

  • Members are required to wear their Contemporary Choir Logo T-Shirt at all rehearsals, performances and arranged photo sessions. If you become a member within a week of attending your free trial, you will received your T-Shirt for free. Additional T-Shirts and various other garments are available to purchase.

As an original member, I have loved every moment of our choir journey and am in awe of he far we’ve come. I had no idea just how clever and talented you (Melissa) and Paul are ❤️. It’s been quite a ride and I’m super excited to see what the future holds for us! Xxx
