The Contemporary Choir Warwickshire
The people behind the music.
Meet Paul and Melissa Asbridge: husband-and-wife musicians bringing people together through great songs, shared laughter and the joy of singing.
Founder & Choir Director
Melissa Asbridge
A professional actor-singer, touring and session vocalist, vocal coach and creative director, Melissa brings a wealth of experience from across the performing arts and live entertainment industry to her role as Founder and Director of The Contemporary Choir.
As co-founder of the award-winning Jam Hot Showband, Melissa has spent years performing professionally, developing ambitious live productions and delivering exceptional musical experiences to audiences all over the world.
She founded The Contemporary Choir with a vision to create something beyond the traditional community choir: a place where people of all backgrounds and abilities could discover the joy of singing together, develop their confidence and experience the thrill of being part of something extraordinary.
Under her musical direction, the choir has grown into a thriving musical community, recognised for its powerful harmonies, exciting contemporary repertoire and ambitious large-scale concerts in prestigious venues.
Melissa's approach combines professional musical standards and creative ambition with warmth, encouragement and an infectious sense of fun. She is passionate about bringing out the very best in every singer, creating performances that are as rewarding for the choir as they are memorable for audiences.
Beyond the music, Melissa is committed to using the choir as a force for good, supporting charitable causes and raising vital funds for organisations including The Myton Hospices.
Musical Director & Arranger
Paul Asbridge
Paul brings a wealth of experience in performing, musical direction and live production to The Contemporary Choir. These days, much of his focus is on Artisan Group, which brings together specialist businesses across corporate events, live production, weddings and professional equipment hire. He still performs with Jam Hot Showband, while spending more of his time shaping projects behind the scenes.
From Coldplay and Queen to The Lion King and Les Misérables, Paul writes arrangements especially for our choir. Each song is a chance to explore harmonies together, grow in confidence and enjoy the thrill of a room full of voices.
More than a choir. A musical family.
The Contemporary Choir Warwickshire is a place to meet like-minded people, sing brilliant arrangements and leave each rehearsal glowing. Melissa and Paul combine professional musicianship with a genuinely warm welcome: no audition, no experience needed and no pressure to be perfect.
We sing pop, musical theatre and Disney favourites in Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick. Selected performances bring the choir together with professional musicians, while community events and fundraising give our music a purpose beyond the rehearsal room. Whether you love the spotlight or simply want a joyful evening of singing, performing is always optional.
